It’s All About the Serums, Baby! [Review by Tell Me,Y…]
Life has been quite busy lately (you can probably tell from my messed up posting schedule). And getting sick as well as the crazy transitional weather certainly didn’t help keeping my skin look and feel healthy. This is when these three serums from Antipodes come to rescue.
Whenever my skin is acting up, I tend to use beauty products that are less stimulating and more natural. As I have reviewed before, Antipodes is a lovely New Zealand beauty brand specialising in organic and natural skincare and makeup. I am very glad to receive samples of these three serums right around the transitional weather hit.
Unlike a lot of other serums, these serums are designed to work in combinations. You can layer one with another to tackle different skin problems. It is recommended to start with the lighter, water-based serum before applying the denser oils.
So the first one I am going to talk about is Worship Superfruit Antioxidant Serum, which is a lightweight water-based serum that is rich in antioxidants from New Zealand-grown superfruit boysenberry, blackcurrant and kiwi to neutralise free radical damage. Other antioxidants in the formula include Vinanza Grape, coffee berry, and the essential fatty acid alpha lipoic acid (ALA). The serum is designed to help fortify skin cells against early ageing.
So this is how my tired face looks….
And this is how it looks once you give it a boost of hydration! I found it to be very fast absorbing and non-sticky!
This brown serum has a pure plant fragrance of blackcurrant and boysenberry which is quite lovely.
After using the Worship Serum, I will complete my beauty regime with either Divine Face Oil Avocado Oil and Rosehip or Chia & Kiwi Seed Superfood Serum. Both serums are oil-based and carry very natural scents (personally prefer the Chia & Kiwi Seed Serum’s herbal scent over that of the Divine Face Oil).
The formula of Chia & Kiwi Seed Superfood Serumfeatures oils rich in Omegas 3 and 6 which blend easily into the epidermis of the skin and help locking in natural moisture in your skin.
And Divine Face Oil addresses signs of ageing and helps boost collagen. This nutrient-rich face oil is scientifically shown to stimulate synthesis of type 1 collagen production in human skin cells by up to 51%. I can’t tell you if it is really boosting collagen or not but I can tell you it does help the scars my pimples left to heal faster.
Both of these oil-based serums are lovely but they do take a couple minutes to set in. So I tend to reserve them for my night time regime as a) night time is when the skin repairs and recovers; b) I always sleep till the last minute in the morning, aka less time for beauty routine. I am always amazed by the long-lasting results of these two oils when I wake up in the morning – my skin glows and my skin tone looks more even! It provides the perfect base for me to start my makeup on!
I am only using one of the oils here but I think I will add a moisturiser when winter kicks in.
If you are after some quality yet inexpensive facial serums, I would totally recommend these three for you. For those who are looking to jump on the beauty oil bandwagon, Divine Face Oil and Worship Superfruit Antioxidant Serum might just be the perfect introduction for you to enter the beauty oil world!
